1. Agreement

These Terms govern your access to and use of the Service, including our website, dashboard, APIs, CLI, and integrations (including GitHub Actions). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to that organization.

2. The Service

BoringCache provides build storage and transfer for reusable Cache content, durable immutable Artifacts, and private OCI Registry content within named workspaces. Cache content may be reclaimed under the applicable retention and capacity rules. Artifacts follow the retention you choose and are never reclaimed as Cache. Registry content remains until deletion, with unreferenced data collected after its recovery windows.

We may modify, improve, or discontinue parts of the Service. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide notice for material changes that adversely impact paid customers.

3. Accounts and Authentication

You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for:

  • maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and API tokens
  • all activity performed using your account, tokens, or integrations

You must promptly notify us of unauthorized access or security incidents affecting your account.

4. Workspaces and Access Controls

A workspace is a namespace (e.g., org/repo) that scopes access to Cache, Artifacts, and Registry content.

  • Workspaces are accessible only to workspace members.
  • Saving or uploading Customer Content is restricted to workspace members and authorized credentials.

You are responsible for setting appropriate workspace access controls.

5. Acceptable Use

You may not use the Service to:

  • violate laws or regulations
  • distribute malware or harmful code
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data
  • host or distribute content that infringes intellectual property rights
  • abuse the Service (e.g., excessive automated requests, denial-of-service, storage misuse)

We may suspend or limit access for suspected abuse, security risks, or violations of these Terms.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of the Cache content, Artifacts, Registry content, and other material you submit ("Customer Content").

You grant BoringCache a limited license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Customer Content solely to provide and improve the Service.

Sensitive Data: The Service is not designed for storing sensitive personal data (e.g., health, financial account numbers, government IDs) in Customer Content. You agree not to store such sensitive data unless explicitly agreed in writing.

7. Integrity and Security

The Service uses integrity verification and validation processes intended to reduce corruption and cache poisoning risks. However, you are responsible for:

  • verifying compatibility of restored content in your environment
  • ensuring your CI workflows and credentials are securely configured

No system is perfectly secure. We do not guarantee the Service will be free of vulnerabilities, but we maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.

8. BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud)

If enabled, BYOC allows a workspace to store Cache content and Artifacts in a customer-provided S3-compatible bucket. Registry storage remains managed by BoringCache and is not stored in the BYOC bucket.

You are responsible for:

  • provisioning and securing your bucket, encryption settings, lifecycle policies, and network controls
  • providing correct credentials and permissions to enable the Service to store and retrieve Cache content and Artifacts
  • ensuring bucket lifecycle policies do not conflict with your expected Cache availability or Artifact retention

BoringCache is not responsible for outages, misconfiguration, or data loss caused by customer-controlled storage.

9. Plans, Billing, and Taxes

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly basis unless stated otherwise. Payments are processed via our billing provider (e.g., Stripe). You authorize us (and our billing provider) to charge the payment method on file.

Prices may change. For paid plans, we will provide reasonable notice of material pricing changes.

You are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or government charges, except those based on our net income.

10. Trials and Free Tier

Free tiers and trials may include storage and cache-request allowances. We may modify free-tier allowances over time.

11. Service Levels and Support

Unless you have a separate written agreement, the Service is provided "as is" without any service level commitment. Support levels vary by plan.

12. Intellectual Property

We own the Service and all related intellectual property (software, branding, documentation), excluding Customer Content. You may not reverse engineer or attempt to derive source code from the Service except where prohibited by law.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if:

  • you violate these Terms
  • your use poses security, legal, or operational risk
  • required by law

Upon termination, access to Cache, Artifacts, and Registry content may end, and data may be deleted when required by law or by an explicit account deletion request.

14. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the fullest extent permitted by law.

We do not warrant that caches will always restore successfully or that restored content is compatible with your system.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • BoringCache is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • Our total liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim (or £100 if you have not paid anything).

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold BoringCache harmless from claims arising from your Customer Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice (e.g., via email or the dashboard). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and courts located in England will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
